Tuesday Run Programme

‘Chooseday Tuesday’ runners are leading our very own running revolution! Whilst Chris March leads this session, group members take it in turns to ‘choose’ the route so every week the run is different.

The purpose of this programme is to have fun and add variety to your running routes, the runs are mainly flat and at a steady pace. Don’t worry if you aren’t as fast as the person at the front – the programme is organised so that we won’t stray too far from each other and can ‘re-group’ every now and then – you won’t get left behind.

All runs start at Meadowbank Sports Centre: meet in the foyer and be ready to run at 6.30pm prompt. To give you an idea of what to expect, here are some of the routes we’ve run previously together with the upcoming runs:

  Fishwives Run: Meadowbank, Jocks Lodge, Fishwives Causeway, Porty Prom, Bellfield Street, Bridge, Stanley Road, Figgate Park, Mountcastle, Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank.  
  Arthur’s Seat to Blackford Hill  Hilly/flat/hilly!
  Jakey Trot: everyone’s favourite! 800 glorious steps over 5.7 miles and a climb of 600 feet! And the route is …

  Musselburgh Ice Cream run; run to Musselburgh, buy an ice cream and bus it back to Meadowbank. Remember to bring ice cream money and change for the bus. Flat

Lodge Loop : London Road, Willowbrae Road, Duddingston Row, Bingham Broadway, Bingham Drive, Mountcastle Drive South, Durham Road South, Durham Road, Hamilton Terrace, Figgate Park, Mountcastle Crescent, Mountcastle Drive North, Northfield Road, Willowbrae Road, London Road. 5 miles, (45 minutes). Hilly in parts!
Bandstand Steady : Meadowbank, Marionville Road, Restalrig Drive, Craigentinny Road, Craigentinny Avenue, Fillyside Road, Seafield Road, Promenade run to the far end bandstand and return via Kings Road, Portobello Road. Steady 6 ½ miles, (55 mins)
Johnston Terrace/Castle : Meadowbank, Pleasance, Meadows, Lauriston, Lady Lawson St, Johnston Terrace, High Street, Abbeyhill, Meadowbank. 5 ¾ Miles
