ERN Weekly Training Sessions

Edinburgh Running Network have regular training sessions every week, tailored to beginners or regular, experienced runners. All the runs we organise are inclusive, we mobilise and stretch after a gentle warm up and then re-group periodically along the route so no-one is left behind. We often enjoy a tea or coffee and cakes at the end of our Sunday runs.

Monday Nights

Suitable for all runners, our shorter Monday night sessions alternate steady runs, speed and hill work, or a combination. More at Monday.

Tuesday Nights

Also known as Chooseday Tuesdays – where an ERN member chooses the route each week. Our Tuesday night intermediate session follows a programme of our favourite routes which you can run at a steady or tempo pace. More at Tuesday.

Wednesday Nights

From April to September, Wednesday night is ‘Beach Fun’ night, an instructor led circuit training session on the beach. Everyone is welcome to attend any club session. More at Wednesday.

Thursday Nights

Our Thursday night intermediate session follows another programme of our favourite routes, but this time we incorporate some speed work or a hill session. More at Thursday.

Sunday Mornings

On Sunday mornings, we offer a selection of distances for all, which include the schedule of distances for our long run program, for those targeting a spring or autumn marathon or ultra marathon. More details including routes and start location at Sunday.

Run Leaders

We aim to have Run Leaders at each of the above weekly training sessions. These are ERN members who have been through a jogscotland training course which covers everything from warm-up to cool-down, fitness programmes, risk assessment and helping people overcome common barriers to starting exercise – such as lack of confidence, perceived lack of time, lack of support etc.  Run Leaders also have access to the emergency contact details provided by members in case of need.

For more information see the Run Leaders page.
