This is the second time that I have run this half marathon. However, this year we added on a 5km run on the Saturday and after the half, a family fun mile.

Saturday morning came and off we went to the expo to collect our number in preparation for race 1 of the weekend. It took some time to get across the start line due to the staggered timing start. 30 mins later, we were off! It was a fairly flat course which was a bonus. We completed the course and ended in the arena which had been darkened as the medals glow in the dark.

Sunday morning was much warmer but we set off to run the half marathon. There was a marathon option to but this year, they set off 60 mins later. We started around the dock area and then headed towards the famous sites of the Cavern club and a few others. We ran though some of the parks and also ran along the infamous Penny Lane before coming back onto the river front for the last 3 miles. This was a bit of a slog but the end was shortly in sight. Once we crossed the finishing line, we collected our medal. We then went to join the queue for the additional medals which we had earned as we ran last year and also for running more than 1 race over the weekend. We came home with 5 medals.

Once the half was completed, we lined up again for the mile. No chip times but it was lovely to see the kids having fun and being extremely competitive with their parents!!

Definitely a good weekend and are going back again for more!!
