With the running bib, goody-bag and tee-shirt to be collected on Friday/Saturday, that worked really well as some runners went on the Friday in order to also collect the FREE bib for what is called the “Breakfast Run” on Saturday morning: a 4.192 Km run finishing in the Olympic Stadium. I choose to pick-up my bib on Saturday morning and than to browse through the adjacent running sport exhibition; the biggest in Spain; everything one need for running was there, from clothing to food. Having the collection over 2 days meant that it was busy but not packed, not bad bearing in mind that the race had slightly over 20,000 runners.
The race itself was brilliant: all in the city, it is a much fun way to do some sight-seeing than hopping in a touristy bus, and the start was AWSOME: each wave had confetti and the Barcelona song by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé as a send off!! Support all along, water/toilets every 3 miles, food (bananas, oranges, nuts) were also available every so-often after the half-way mark. It’s a single loop, so you are finishing where you started: Placa d’Espanya.
Well organised, cheap to enter and a good excuse to go away for a few days in a sunny place too!!
