Emma Lougheed had this to report:
Just home from my weekend trip up north! Wee race report on Run Garioch HM. This is a fair sized event from Inverurie leisure centre. There’s 3 children’s races for ages 4-12 then a 5k, 10k and half marathon so something for everyone! It was well organised, easy to park on nearby residential streets, bonus of indoor facilities as well as additional portaloos, well marshaled and 3 water stations.
Technical t-shirt, medal, water and banana (the kids got jelly beans, I was looking forward to mine for 13.1miles then got handed a banana!!). It’s mostly rural roads, a bit muddy in places and as you can see from the elevation profile more up than down!!
Good friendly crowd and I had a nice chat with a few folk on the way round. Pleased to finish in under 1:50, it’s no PB course!!
It’s a bit far to travel for the day from Edinburgh but I’d recommend if you’ve got friends/family or find yourself in that neck of the woods. My shot of the route was taken on Saturday in glorious spring sunshine, sadly Sunday was best described as persistent drizzle 🙁
