Gillian said : This is a wee gem, a scenic little trail 10K. Dechmont’s in Livingston so it’s just 10 minutes along the M8, negotiate a few roundabouts and you’re there. It starts from a high school (plenty of changing/toilet facilities) and the route is two loops, a smaller loop followed by a bigger loop, of open ground and woodland. I wouldn’t say it’s a hilly run, or humply, just a few inclines. It had been quite rainy the night before so it was lovely & squelchy underfoot in parts – all good fun! I’d heard it was meant to be scenic, it was quite misty at the start so running through some of the woods was more scenic is spooky kind of way! It’s a wee race so there was just some fruit cake at the end, the goody bags seemed to have mixed contents (I got a water bottle, a bottle of water & two biscuits so I was happy) but the medal was just fab, it was ceramic, really different & attractive. To be recommended!
Phil said : On a cold misty summers day in a far corner of Livingston, Gillian, Elly and Phil ran the Dechmont Law 10K Trail Race. The course is entirely off road and loops around parkland and through lovely pine woods. After all the recent rain there was lots of unavoidable muddy bits and the feet were sliding around even in grippy trail shoes. In many respects it felt more like a winter cross-country run than a summer trail race! But it was still a friendly enjoyable experience with cake, goody bag and a rather unique ceramic medal for the finishers – not bad for 8 quid.
