Edinburgh University Triathlon Club once again staged their annual sprint triathlon, comprising a 750m pool swim, 18.3km cycle and 5km run, in and around Tranent, East Lothian.

One of ERN’s regular triathlon competitors, Tracy Lazenby-Paterson, headed out to a sunny, but rather chilly Tranent for her first triathlon of 2012, finishing in the same overall position as last year, but one place higher in her category, with an excellent 3rd place. Well done Tracy!

Tracy said : “The Edinburgh University Sprint Triathlon in Tranent is a consistently well-organised and well-marshalled sprint. It was a very chilly start on the Saturday morning, so my T1 (which my spectator aptly labelled the worst transition he has seen in a while) was spent donning top, jacket, socks and gloves. An uneventful swim although a few toys thrown out of the pram in other lanes with some folks failing to follow proper lane etiquette. Something for the spectators at least. The cycle course is a beautiful and scenic course although a wee bit exposed to the wind in areas. The run is through a modern housing estate, very quiet and brilliantly marshalled. In spite of the cold, the sun was shining and it was a great day out. All levels welcome”.
