Fi and Jo were up early doors to participate in the North Berwick Triathlon. Both had a great time with Jo finishing 7th woman and Fi 18th; brilliant! Well organised, friendly and recommended.
Jo said: “Fi and I were up at the crack of dawn on Sunday to make our way to North Berwick for their annual triathlon, it’s shorter than a sprint consisting of 250m swim, 6mile cycle & 2.5mile run. Registration opened at 7:15am, race briefing at 8:30am with a 9am start, me and Fi started in the 2nd start group at 9:30am due to our faster predicted swim time. The swim was well organised, consisting of 5 lanes which you swim 2 lengths in each working your way across to the furthest away lane (10 lengths in total) where you get out towards transition.
The weather was pretty damp, cold & a bit windy, the cycle was a rather exposed flattish loop round the back roads which were pretty quiet and smooth as the local council had just filled in the pot holes the day before! The run was an out & back along the same route of the cycle.
We had a wrist band with a plastic dibber which you would swipe in a plastic reader at each part of the race which gave accurate and quicker results, once finished the marshals printed off your results instantly and gave you a receipt with your times on it, brilliant!
I really enjoyed this triathlon, particularly because I somehow managed 7th place out of the women! It is a very friendly event and would definitely recommend it for those who fancy ‘tri’ing it out and we also got a pink Nike water bottle and a banana at the end, not bad for £12 entry.
