Stuart Pirnie decided to take part in his local race, the Penicuik 10km, as his final week’s training run for the Edinburgh Marathon. Good weather and the usual friendly Harriers met everyone taking part. While the route is a bit humply, it’s more than made up by the friendliness and excellent organisation. Huge spread for after’s as well! If you haven’t taken part before, put it in your calendar for next year – recommended. Thanks as always to Penicuik Harriers and their helpers for a great event.
Stuart said: “Despite being my local race it was the first time I’ve done it. It was a beautiful day with a slight headwind on the way out.
The race started and finished on the field across from the rugby ground with registration at the high school. The course took you out towards Howgate and back into Penicuik meaning there was quite a steep incline around the one kilometre mark. The route was very pleasant and picturesque. The race was well marshalled and the locals were out in force offering encouragement. Hungry runners were greeted with an almighty spread of food at the finish.
All in all a thoroughly well organised and enjoyable run.
