Well done to Emily Alston who took part in the above race while visiting the USA. The race is organised by the New York Road Runners (NYRR) and is held entirely within the confines of Central Park in Manhattan. Despite the humply course and the weather (that can only be described as biblical!) Emily achieved a PB.

Emily said: “Hi, just a quick one to let you know I ran the New York Road Runners 4 mile race in central park on Saturday. I wore my ERN vest so I was hoping to have some photos but unfortunately my camera was stolen out of my suitcase on the way home! Doh!
I took part in the race on a recommendation from Laura who also took part in a NYRR event when she was in New York last year. Saturday morning in NYC brought a torrential downpour so we got seriously wet but it was great fun, well organised and very good spirited despite the adverse weather conditions! The stewards were brilliant and bearing in mind the umbrella defying rain the number of supporters out on the route was really impressive. I got a PB of 38.50, OK that’s probably because I have never run a 4-miler before, but it was also a really good time pace wise for me 🙂
ERN vest got lots of attention on the subway on the way back! Everyone wanted to know why I hadn’t been there for their “Scotland Run” a few weeks before, which is apparently one of the most popular races they have. Details at www.nyrr.org
