While ERN’s were getting wet in Edinburgh, Gillian Grant and Val Beattie were having similar experiences in Stirling. The Central AC 10km is a well liked, interesting and fast event which both enjoyed; Val managing an excellent PB. Thanks to Central AC for a good day out. Details of the race can be found at www.centralathletics.co.uk

Place (780) Gun Time Chip Time

Val Beattie 656 00:56:39 00:56:11

Gillian said: “Wasn’t just the ERN run that was a bit damp today. I went over to Stirling to run the 10k and it was pouring over there as well, Starts and finishes at Stirling Albion Football stadium. Nice cafe to hang about in prior to the race starting. No changing facilities but lockers available. 900 runners on a fairly flat course which I think would be quite scenic in parts on a summers day. Part of the course is a big loop and as ever was interesting watching the fast guys racing back as I headed out.  Not a lot of public support (don’t blame them) but the marshalls were very encouraging.  Finished in 54.26 and met Val Beattie at the end which was a nice surprise. T shirt, water, cereal bar and banana was the goody bag.  Still pouring which made hot coffee and a Mars bar on the train back the high-light of my morning.  Sorry no photos was travelling light and didn’t take a camera.”

Val said” Gillian and I did the Stirling 10km this morning – sorry no pics from us. Rain stayed off for most of it! 780 ran it – hardly any queue for the ladies! Well organised and wee goody bag at end. Great race – mainly very flat and out and back course – even though it was a dull day – still managed to be scenic! I had a virus all week and deliberated whether to do it or not – glad I did – got a PB of 56.11. Gillian did a great time too. Most recommended for a PB – good run- I’ll be back next year!”
