To get over her disappointment in not being able to run the Loch Ness Marathon, Denise Hamilton clearly advocates the “get right back in there” approach. She took part in the above, a 5km run/20km cycle/5km run discipline event organised by Stirling Triathlon Club, finishing in an excellent time of 1:38. Apart from being in the toilet when the race started, this was an excellent and fun event run in perfect weather

It was such a gorgeous day and sounded like a good atmosphere, especially with the pipe band, think I would have got all emotional before it even started! Can’t believe so many PBs as well, excellent.
The main reason I managed to get cheered up about missing it was by signing up for the Stirling sprint duathlon! It was yesterday, on another beautiful day – it was a 5k run/20k cycle/5k run and was so much fun, I loved it. Results are up today, I did it in 1:38 which I was pretty happy with. Definitely going back again next year when I’m totally fit. And next year hopefully Rachel and I won’t be in the bathroom when it starts!! It hadn’t started when it was meant to and then during the briefing we sneaked off to the toilet and they must have started about a minute later… I looked out the window and saw everyone running past!! I am laughing now but wasn’t at the time!!
I’d definitely recommend anyone thinking about triathlons/duathlons to give it a go.
Cheers and I’ll see you all soon.
Denise”
