The third annual 5km Run for Burma was attended by 17 Westwoods Jogscotland runners (including 5 ERNs). Good cause, good run and t-shirt. Phil also set a new ERN 5km mens record while achieving a PB – Congratulations, especially as it’s less than a week since he ran a marathon!
Fi said: A lovely day for 5k in Inverleith Park around the trails that I use for my beginner & intermediate jogscotland groups, so we knew the course! Brendan was taken by a run that served lunch & didn’t involve chipping.
Small group of varying abilities set off for 2 laps of Inverleith Park… Phil was fast, Gillian after him, then Ely, Ellie, Brendan & I brought up the rear. It was well organised with very capable marshals & indeed the lunch was good along with a talk by Zoya Phan who is from the Karen ethnic group in Burma – thought provoking stuff.
Gillian said: Burma 5k was a really nice event, biggest excitement being the new loos in the revamped Botanic Gardens entrance gates which I checked out prior to running. They are so classy, like some thing in an expensive hotel. Race was two and a bit times round Inverleith Park, humply I think is the technical term but nice straight flat finish up the main path. Was pleasantly surprised with T shirt and goodie bag. Since it was for charity I didn’t expect any thing. All in all a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
