Chris March and Ros Derham travelled to Dunblane for this unusual length race. The undulating course had a wee sting in the tale with a short sharp rise to the finish that added to the challenge! Starting and finishing at the famous Hydro Hotel, the race was rural, well organised and supported and enjoyed by all. Well done to both ladies.
Chris said ” This was a really interesting course – undulating and unfortunately on the day ‘a tad windy’ everytime you got to the top of a hill (and there were a few) which made bits of it really hard – but having a moan about hills and wind certainly contributed to the camaderie! 10 minutes before the race started I’d been told by a mate who did the race last year that it was pretty flat … yeah – not sure which race exactly he did – I did get an apology at the end – I didn’t apologise for the cursin I’d given him! The local support was great – folks were out in their gardens with their cuppas giving us a cheer as we passed. As you came back into Dunblane there were more folks about and the heers got a bit louder … which was just what you needed as from about 6 miles there seemed to be a gradual uphill culminating in the ‘killer hill’ up to Dunblane Hydro! But once at the top the feeling of achievement and the banana in the goody bag somehow seemed to make it all worthwhile… or is it endorphins… Not put off I’d like to give it a go again next year.”
