The Self Transcendence 5km Road Race is organised by the Sri Chinmoy Athletic Club and Run and Become and is held on a mid-week June evening on Silverknowes Promenade. Further details can be found at their website Sri Chinmoy Races.
Gillian Grant took part and said:
“I did “The Run and Become 5k” on Silverknowes Promenade on Wednesday night. Starts at the Tea room, run towards Cramond, round the flag pole at west end of prom, back towards Granton, turn round again and finish where you started. A very fast field, lot of local clubs obviously have a team outing to it. I was 133 out of 159 in 25.25. It was a beautiful summers night, joy to be out in. Think all the dog walkers quite enjoyed the excitement. Run and Become request you come ready to run and you can enter on the night. No changing facilities, but cafe, public loos and left luggage facilities available. As a Scottish Athletics member I paid £4. At the end we got water, sweeties, lip salve, a pen and the choice of quality running socks or a T shirt. If any body knows of a better value race I’ll be amazed!”
