“The week-end before last 3 friends and I took the high road to Inverness to take part in the Inverness half marathon.
A very well organised race. Registration is between 10 and 12.30 at Inverness Sports Stadium and the race it-self starts at 1pm. Biggest problem is deciding on a late breakfast or an early lunch!! Flat and fast first 2 or 3 miles rapidly spreads the field out, then we all get our heads down for a couple of miles of gentle incline prior to heading into the best bit, 2 or 3 flat miles through the pine woods, quick whizz round a housing estate then a glorious down hill has us heading back along the flat fast bit we started on. Quick dash round the stadium track and that’s it job done. About 1350 runners of all abilities. I was placed about half way in 1 58 04. Top 100 results available about 10 minutes after we finished but alas no home baking in sight. Definitely one to consider if you want a w/e away.
Spectated at Edinburgh half the following Sunday, then took my nephews on the Sportsmile. They both beat me and one’s only 11. I must train harder. Cheers. Gillian”
