The sixth event was held on Sunday, 22nd July with participants meeting at Meadowbank Sports Centre before the walk/jog to the warm-up and start point in Holyrood Park. A 10km run (6.22) miles, Little ERN is a tough wee blighter, taking in a drag past Holyrood Place and the Scottish Parliament, up to the Park roundabout near the Commonwealth Pool area, down the innocent Railway tunnel and cycleway to Duddingston and back via the Sheep’s Heid to the same roundabout, then up (again!) round ‘Arthur’ anticlockwise to finish near the bottom of the hill for some well deserved juice and sweeties.
Eight runners took part, first home was Neil (fast) Page followed by Phil (svelte) Humphries followed shortly by the remainder.
A very scenic course, which took in some of Edinburgh’s best views and was enjoyed by all. Following the previous night’s torrential rain, which probably put off some potential participants, the rain stopped just as the runners met up and the event was run in (unusual for ’07!) warm sunshine. A good start to the Glasgow Half Marathon training programme. Well done to all and welcome to those there for the first time.
