The third in the series was run on Monday 28th May, meeting at Meadowbank Sports Centre before jogging to the warm-up and start area beside Holyrood Palace. A bit different this time as a bottle of wine was up for grabs for which every runner predicted their event time. Watches were left with the marshal in case of cribbing!
A good evening run, dry but not too warm. A testing course taking in Hunters Bog, Innocent Railway (but not the tunnel), Duddingston via the Sheep’s Heid and back via Hunters Bog to finish at the “big fish” at Holyrood Park’s east entrance car park. Pictures and times below:

Predicted Time | Actual Time | Difference | |
---|---|---|---|
Fiona | 50.00 | 47.32 | – 2.28 |
Phil | 37.30 | 39.58 | + 2.28 |
Neil | 40.00 | 43.13 | + 3.13 |
George | 51.00 | 47.34 | – 3.26 |
Eleanor | 55.00 | 49.50 | – 5.10 |
The event was a tie but, while it was suggested that it be settled in the normal mature way (rock/paper/scissors), Phil gallantly stepped aside and Fiona was declared the winner and awarded a full bottle of General Pinochet’s finest Chilean plonk. Congratulations to Fiona and well done to everyone who took part.
