Ellie Barnard and Phil Humphries took part in the Loch Leven Half, both getting PBs – Well done!
Ellie said : Just thought I’d send you a brief report and a couple of pics of the Loch Leven Half Marathon that Phil and I did on Sat 19th May.
The route was circular and quite scenic, starting/finishing in Kinross and skirting Loch Leven, and was “flat” or “undulating” depending on who you asked! Weather conditions were not ideal, with a couple of heavy showers near the start and a strong Westerly that was head-on for the last 3 miles of the route, making for a tough finish!
Still, Phil recorded a new PB, and I guess I did too, seeing as it was my first half-marathon! I certainly finished faster than I had hoped to.
Results (of 402 runners):
Position 63. Phil Humphries. Time: 1:35:10
Position 380. Eleanor Barnard. Time: 2:14:45
As it was my first half-marathon I can’t comment on it’s relative merits, but I thoroughly enjoyed the event and my first foray into longer distance running! I also raised over £500 for Lochaber and Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Teams, so a big thank-you to all whose sponsorship gave me added motivation!!
