Ally McDonald took part and posted a fantastic time of 2.42.52 for the 22 mile race. Ally finished 31 out of 131 finishers (135 starters) – well done.
Ally said : The run started in perfect conditions, despite the fears of warm weather. I was happy to let other runners come past me early on, I found myself keeping to the same pace and overtaken those same runners 10-14 miles in. Everything was going well and I was enjoying the run, until the sun burnt through the clouds at the 16.5 miles stage, making things worse. This was just at the hilly stage climbing into Gullane and the long, gradual rise onto Dirleton. Others around me where fading and I thought by stopping to give one of them a drink from my hydration pack, my good deed may warrant a cloud, but to no avail. By the time I reached North Berwick I promised myself I was giving up running, even with a PB, but by Wednesday I was training for the Edinburgh Marathon.
